Top 5 Big City Skylines

All my years studying urban planning have helped me appreciate the big city skyline more. The central hubs of major cities around the world are the cultural pulse and economic engines of urban areas home to millions of people. All city life begins every day and ends every night under the supervision of the city's tallest skyscrapers and most magnificent architectural structures. So step back and appreciate the view they offer…

  1. Seattle, USA

Seattle is the commercial, cultural and high-tech center of the American Northwest and a major port city for Pacific and European trade. Home to 4 buildings over 200m and the famous 184m Space Needle observation tower, Seattle is surrounded by mountains and water and offers some perfect views. Seattle is commonly called the Emerald City and is known as a great social and corporate city with infrastructure. The planning is great as it helped to create a hill-like effect on the skyline silhouette, adding a mountain background and this city is almost picture perfect. Best view(s): Kerry Park, Franklin Place.

  2. Shenzhen, China

A small fishing village on the border with Hong Kong in 1970 is now a bustling metropolis of over six million people! The development, which now includes 20 buildings over 200 meters tall, including Shun Hing Square (the 8th tallest building in the world), is unstoppable. There are photos of Shenzhen floating around the Internet that look so surreal, experts and enthusiasts are debating whether they are doctors or not. Shenzhen is a spectacle of lights and neon signs after sunset, you can't help but ask yourself... if you're in a video game or a real city. The only downside to Shenzhen's skyline is that it is often criticized for its high smog levels.

  3. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

It is probably the most impressive city in the world with less than 2 million inhabitants. Here, magnificent modern buildings reach for the sky, and while the skyline isn't exactly the tightest, it allows the buildings to soar and stand out. Kuala Lumpur has 10 buildings over 200 meters tall, and three of them are among the 25 tallest buildings in the world. Kuala Lumpur is also home to the tallest twin buildings, the Petronas Towers and the 420-meter-tall Menara Kuala Lumpur Tower. Along with Singapore, it is said that there are frontier cities rising from the Southeast Asian economic revolution.

  4. Toronto, Canada

Toronto is a meeting place where many cultures and ethnicities intersect. . Toronto has 7 structures above 200 meters on the skyline, including the CN Tower, which is a staggering 553 meters tall. Today, the CN Tower boasts the highest observation deck in the world, making this city's skyline one of the most instantly recognizable. Toronto also contains a diverse collection of famous architecture, including the city hall. Toronto also has one of the densest financial districts in North America, only to be beaten by New York and Chicago. Toronto is still experiencing a condo boom, with 30-story condos popping up on the lakefront and in the suburbs. Best View(s): Center Island or Leslie Split

  5. Tokyo, Japan

Tokyo is the most populous city in the world and is considered by many to be the capital of the Eastern world. Its skyline has a number of unique features that set it apart from other big city skylines, including 18 buildings over 200 meters tall (including the Tokyo Tower, which changes color every night). But because of the city's density and sheer size, every corner has its own skyline. Height restrictions and the required red lights flashing on top of all medium and tall buildings make the city look spectacular at night. Tokyo is full of neon lighting and unique, modern architecture, and like New York City, it's often featured in movies for its aesthetic and eye-catching cityscapes. The Fuji mountain range visible in the distance adds to the contrast of technology meets nature. Fun fact: Tokyo has the world's largest fleet of helicopters to get you around the city if traffic gets too crazy.
